The installation of the filter above the dryer drum allows, in comparison with a traditional asphalt plant, a significant reduction in both the overall electric consumption (thanks to the reduced number of screw conveyors) and the thermal energy losses. The thermal energy saving is mainly due to a shorter, partly insulated dryer-filter duct (instead of a non insulated pipe for the connection between dryer and bags filter) and recovery of radiant heat energy from the drum used to heat the recovered fines and the filter.
